Hugh Beins and Jon Axelrod founded Beins, Axelrod in 1980. Since then, the Firm has provided first rate services to a wide range of clients.
Our clients include private sector unions representing employees in a variety of industries, including transportation, communications, education, maritime, healthcare, building and construction, defense/military industries, entertainment, food service and bottling, warehouse, freight, and package delivery. We also represent union sponsored health, welfare, and pension funds. The Firm represents international unions, regional bodies, and local unions. No organization is too big, too small, or too far away to work with our Firm.
Our clients also include public sector unions representing employees in a variety of local and feeral agencies, including the District of Columbia, school districts, and various state universities. We also represent associations of taxicab drivers in the District of Columbia.
In addition to its institutional clients, the Firm also represents individual clients in whistleblower claims, employment discrimination, severance agreements, restrictive covenants, pension and health insurance claims, and unpaid wage claims.
Our attorneys litigate cases on behalf of our cleints in state and federal courts, before state and federal administrative agencies, and in arbitration. The Firm has extensive experience representing unions and employees before the NLRB, the Department of Labor, the DC PERB, the DC Office of Employee Appeals, and other agencies.
Our Firm also represents Trustees of ERISA benefit funds in day-to-day Plan administration, in resolving disputes among trustees, and in litigation on behalf of the Plan and/or Trustees.
We also have extensive experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements in the transportation, entertainment, industrial and other sectors. At the bargaining table, our role can range from chief spokesperson to as-needed advisors, depending on the needs and resources of the client.
The Firm also assists its union clients in developing successful organizing campaigns and offers training to union staff, stewards, and members.
