Patrick B. Shaw

Patrick B. Shaw has had a long career of diverse experience on behalf of working families. Most recently, Pat was on the staff of the American Association of University Professors’ (AAUP) Department of Organizing and Services for almost 20 years. Prior to that, he was a Business Agent for Teamsters Local 364 in South Bend, Indiana, for four year. From 1977-1988, he was in private law practice, including several years at Beins, Axelrod, representing labor unions locally and nationally. He began his career with a year at the NLRB and a year as General Counsel to the Indiana Conference of Teamsters.

Pat has wide experience representing labor unions in both the public and private sector and has a particular interest in educating and preparing union leaders and activists in learning how to use their lawyers better and as little as possible. Pat also has substantial experience in organizing within and outside of collective bargaining and has worked extensively in assisting unions and advocacy groups in planning and executing contract campaigns and other initiatives the success of which depend upon the engagement and power of the rank-and-file.

Pat received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1967 and his law degree from Indiana University- Bloomington in 1975.

Justin received his Bachelor’s degree from SUNY College at Fredonia and his law degree from The George Washington University. He is an active member of the Alexandria, Virginia, Democratic Committee and provides pro bono legal services in voter protection efforts.
